“I thank my God, making mention of thee in my prayers, hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints; that the communication of your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:4-6
LIGHT FOR NOW: The world cannot define you, only the word can.
We have come to deduce in this study so far that the revelation of the believer in Christ is in Christ and this revelation is only restricted within the confines of the 66 books God has given to us which is the bible. Hence, an attempt to come to the revelation of your identity via external biblical sources is an attempt that will end you in error. Don’t forget that you are in Christ, and Christ is only revealed in the written word, so if Christ is revealed within these set apart writings called the bible, how then do you want to leave the bible and find your identity elsewhere. This will only result in identity crisis. Remember, identification connotes sameness or oneness. So, if you are identified with Christ, then the same Christ is known by the word, you are also known by the word. What defines Christ is what defines you; what cannot define Christ cannot define you. If the revelation of Christ is not subjected to the world’s view, then the revelation of yourself is not also subjected to the world’s view. Jesus has this to say in chapter 17 verses 11 of John’s synoptic, “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me that they may be one, as we are”. So you are in the world but though you are in the world, the world cannot define you because you are in Christ. The world cannot know you because the world doesn’t know Jesus.
The world cannot explain you because it can’t explain Jesus. Any definition of you subjected to the world’s view is false. Your identity is not in the world; your identity is in the word. So don’t leave the word and go to the world to know yourself; the world cannot know you. The world lacks the ability to explain the born again man. You are not born of the world; you are born of the word so the revelation of your identity is only subjected to the word; only the word can reveal yourself to you. You are one with Christ; you are in Christ. In Christ is where you live; in Christ is your environment; in Christ is your new world. So, it’s only in Christ that you can best be explained. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: Know yourself in Christ.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the glorious gospel of Christ that moved me out of the systems of this world into Christ who is my new world where I reign and dominate, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: The world cannot define you; only the word can.
