“I thank my God, making mention of thee in my prayers, hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints; that the communication of your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:4-6
LIGHT FOR NOW: You are degrading in your Christian life if you find it difficult to appreciate the scriptures.
We have established that only the scriptures are valid for teachings. Only the scriptures are valid for evidence, and not your experiences, dreams, visions, hearsays, nuances, idiosyncrasies and testimonies. Someone’s testimony on vision or experience is not potent enough for bible teachings. You can’t even teach “salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” by your experience at all. Hear Paul again in 2Timothy 3:15-17 which reads “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works”. So, what’s the only thing that validates your salvation? The scriptures validate your salvation. Only the scriptures can teach your salvation to you. Only the scriptures can correct you. You are degrading in your Christian life if you find it difficult to appreciate the scriptures. In other words, if you are finding it difficult to appreciate the scriptures, it shows the degree of degrading in your Christian life; it shows that something has corroded about you. Only the scriptures attest to your faith; only the scriptures are inspired. The word “inspired/inspiration” (in 2Timothy 3:16) means to be breathed upon by God, that is, something that came from God. No book is inspired of God on its own. A book is only inspired to the degree where it agrees with the bible. The degree to which a believer validates what he is saying is from the scriptures. I accept a book to the degree of which it agrees with the bible. I accept a message/preaching or a teaching to the degree of which it agrees with the bible; it must take all of its authority from the scriptures. The scripture is the final authority. Any teaching that does not derive its authority from the bible is another gospel. And also, any gospel that goes into the bible to pick verses and phrases in order to back up what is in the mind of the speaker and not necessarily saying what the text is saying is still erroneous. You are not to make the scriptures say what you want it to say, you are to say what the scriptures is saying. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: Read your bible, don’t just have a bible.
PRAYER: I declare that my appreciation for the scriptures increases till nothing else matter, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: Don’t just have a bible, read your bible.
