Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. – Romans 12:9-13

LIGHT FOR NOW: By the hearing of faith, we have the fruit of the spirit.

As we proceeded in this study, we got into examining Paul’s words in Galatians 5:22 where he used the word “love” with respect to believers. Recall, in Galatians 5:22, Paul did not say “fruits”; hence, the term “fruit of the spirit” will imply “the product of” or “the result of the spirit”. Also, recall that the spirit here is what we received at salvation; by the hearing of faith, as made clear in Galatians 3:2-3 and Galatians 1:8-9 in context. That said, Paul again mentioned the spirit in verse 14 of Galatians 3, it reads “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”. Notice, the statement “the promise of the spirit through faith” (in the gospel); in other words, by faith in the gospel of Christ, a man receives the promised spirit. In chapter 4 verses 6 and 7 of Galatians, he did the same, it reads “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” here, he referred to the indwelling of the Spirit in the believer (the son of God), which is received by faith in the gospel. Thus, when Paul wrote “the fruit of the spirit” or “the result of the spirit”, he definitely was not referring to the believer producing actions, rather the result of or what the Spirit in us has produced salvation; the new birth. This was by the hearing of faith. with this explanation done so far, Galatians 5:22-23 can be better understood as: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law”. So, in other words, when a man got saved, he was born with love, meekness, temperance, patience, joy, goodness, peace, gentleness, and faithfulness. He (the born again man) does not try to love or to be patient; they are part of his nature. Thus, to walk in love will be to walk in our nature. So when Paul says to us “walk in love”, Paul is actually saying to us “walk in your nature”. Friends and families, partners, love ones and brethren, let us walk in our nature which is love. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Walking in love is synonymous to walking in our nature; so walk in your nature.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for making me know my nature through the unveiling of your word. I declare that I allow this nature influence my conduct in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: Your lifestyle is regulated by the content of your mind; hence, the information you are exposed to becomes the fabric for your thoughts, words and actions.
