“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” – Isaiah 53:3-7
LIGHT FOR NOW: The person of Jesus is the light of God to the world.
In our attempt to bringing Moses’ words in Genesis 1:3 to the spotlight, we have seen from a body of scriptures in the New Testament where we have the revelation of the Old Testament that the light in Genesis 1:3 is the person of Christ and as we saw by implication, it is in this person that we will have a humanity of men who are indwelt by the light. And don’t forget, whenever Jesus is being referred to as the light, salvation is in view; hence, in Paul’s words in 2Corinthians 4:6, it is clear that the light shines in the heart of men which obviously is salvation. Jesus also implies this in His words in John 8:12 where He calls Himself the light and further says, “He that followeth him will not walk in darkness, but have the light of life”. In other words, men were being implied; that is, Christ the light will shine in the hearts of men or a man will believe in Him and have the light of life. So, in the light (Christ Jesus) is also where life will be found.
Now in John 3, Jesus lays credence to the fact that He is light, it reads “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth good cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God” (John 3:19-21). Jesus here in talking about the light was referring to Himself. He is the light; He is the light of the world; He is the light of men. So, the reason God would have uttered “Let there be light” in Genesis 1:3 will be the salvation of men. Jesus is the light of men; Jesus is the life of men. And don’t forget life is in the light. This will become clearer in subsequent days. Hallelujah!
