“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” – Isaiah 53:3-7
LIGHT FOR NOW: Jesus is light expressed.
In the course of this study, we began unbundling Moses’ words in verse 3 of Genesis which an understanding of this will unveil the previous two verses. Now from Paul’s words in 2Corinthians 4:6, it could be deduced without doubt that Christ is the light and since Paul further says the light shined in the hearts of men which by implication means salvation, then bringing that back to Genesis 1:3, it can be deduced that light here is Christ and since this light is shining in the hearts of men as opined by Paul, then in Genesis 1:3 we will have a spiritual truth of Christ the light and by implication, men indwelt by Christ the light which automatically means salvation. Now recall, from Jesus’ words in John 8:12, Jesus calls Himself light and it further says anyone (men) who follows Him (which means believe) will have the light of life. Take note of this ahead of time; Jesus says “light of life” which in other words means life is in the light (life is in Him). In other words, in Genesis 1:3 where we have the light, then we can deduce that life is in that light (this will be eternal life which equals salvation). So in Genesis 1:3, we have Christ the light and by saying Christ the light, we have just said salvation because by implication, we will have men indwelt by the light. Recall that they will be two categories of men in Genesis 1:1-3 and if we’ve seen the first in Genesis 1:3 where we have Christ Jesus in whom is a humanity of men indwelt by Him, then the statement “And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep” will now stand out to be a spiritual truth of men not indwelt by Christ the light; and as the studies goes on, this will become clearer. In John 9:5, Jesus further affirms the fact that He is the light of the world; it reads “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world”. So the light is in reference to the person of Jesus. Hallelujah!
