GOD’S LOVE REVEALED IN THE GOSPEL (1)

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” – Matthew 24:14

LIGHT FOR NOW: The gospel is a message.

In today’s Christian community, the gospel has been made to mean what it is not; many have preached ignorantly what they think is the gospel, but in truth, that is not the gospel. For instance, many have preached hell fire as the gospel; that is, how hot, hell is; how the fire in hell burns the person in there to ashes. They think that is the gospel. They think that scaring people from going to hell or the message of how hot hell is will stop a man from going to hell. Some even die, go to hell and heaven and later come back with stories of how hot hell is; how they are carrying cement and building materials into heaven to build houses of believers who are working out their salvation with fear and trembling. So, as a believer prays more, fasts more, do not make mistakes in his Christian walk, then his house is close to completion and thus, believers who are not working out their salvation well will have uncompleted building in heaven. Some in their stories of how they went to heaven and hell and later came back report of how in a day, millions are trooping to hell while only one or two persons gets to heaven and they paint a picture of how sorrowful Jesus was and so on and so forth. Now, it is only a person who is not educated within the scriptures that will believe in such stories or submit to such fantasies and see such information as the truth or the gospel.

Are all these stories the preaching of the gospel? The obvious answer is No! Scaring people about hell is not the gospel. The gospel is a message and this message is specific; it is the message of Christ, specifically what Christ has done in his redemptive work for man. This is the message that saves, not frightening people to come to Jesus. This is the only message that supplies faith to the hearer (the message of Christ); the message of what Christ has done, not the message of what hell is. The sinner does not need hell to be saved; he needs Christ to be saved. The message of Christ is the message of the savior and this is what births faith in the hearer; and when this happens, salvation is what is effected in the life of the hearer. So, we are to preach Jesus. We have a specific message which is the message of Christ.

INSTRUCTION: We have a specific message. Preach it!

PRAYER: Father, I declare that I am consistent in preaching the truth of your word which is the gospel of your Son in Jesus Name. Amen.

QUOTE: The sinner does not need hell to be saved; he needs Christ to be saved.
