“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and ye shall keep my judgments and do them… I will also save you from all uncleanness and I will call for the corn, and will increase it and lay no famine upon you” Ezekiel 36:25-27 & 29.
LIGHT FOR NOW: The indwelling of the Spirit is the reality of the man in Christ.
We have seen in this subject in the course of our studies that the new creature or the new man was the person contained in Ezekiel’s prophecy in the above text. Thus, we can infer here that in Ezekiel’s prophecy, we see the promise of the new creature; the new man. Second, also observe in context of Ezekiel’s prophecy, he talks about “a new spirit” (verse 26) and then explains it in verse 27 as “my spirit”, that is, “God’s spirit, and I will put my spirit within you” (Ezekiel 36:27). So, who will be the “you” here that God’s spirit will be put within? It is still this same man; the new creature, the new man; the man in Christ.
Thus, what was contained in verse 26 to 27 will be the promise of God’s spirit or the indwelling of the spirit in the heart of the born again man; the man that has believed in the gospel. Therefore, by faith in the gospel of Christ, we have been indwelt by God’s spirit and thus, this promise in Ezekiel’s prophecy has become a reality in us. They are overwhelming texts in the New Testament that buttresses the fact that the man in Christ has been indwelt by God’s spirit, let’s see a few: “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again unto fear but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba Father” (Romans 8:15). “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God” (1Corinthians 2:12). “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13). “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts, crying, Abba Father” (Galatians 4:6).
Therefore, we have received the spirit by faith in the gospel of Christ. And thus, our affirmation today as believers is what He has done. We have the spirit indwelling us forever. Since the day the Spirit took up residence in the believer, He has never left the believer at all (not even once). That is why our realities in Christ are eternal; they cannot be undone or nullified. Hallelujah!!!
INSTRUCTION: Meditate on these realities you have in Christ.
Prayer: Father, I declare that I am Christ conscious and conscious of what Christ has accomplished for me in His finished work where my realities are found. And I declare that these realities fill up my entire mind like never before in Jesus Name, Amen
QUOTE: Coming with the understanding of your reality in Christ founded in the revelation of your identity in Christ is your ability and capabilities in Christ.
