“Every good and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures” – James 1:17-18

LIGHT FOR NOW: The Father and son relationship is found in the person of Jesus Christ.

From the studies carried out in previous days on this subject, it can be deduced that the father and son relationship is found in the person of Christ and thus, the family of God is found in Christ. More so, it could also be deduced that the fatherhood of God in Christ is the reality of our identity; who we really are; we are God’s children; we are sons of God; we belong to God’s family in Christ and in this family God is not an uncle to us, neither is He our master but He is our father. In other words, where the fact of the relationship of the believer with God is (in Christ) is concerned, he doesn’t have master to servant relationship, he has a Father to son relationship. Where relationship with God is concerned, God is our father and we are His sons. So, we have a father to son relationship. But where service is concerned (serving the Lord by serving His family, which is His church). In other words, in service, God who is our father (relationship) is our master (service) and we who are His sons (relationship) are His servants (service). This service (service to God by serving the church) does not change the fact of our relationship with God (a father to son relationship). No wonder Paul who was a son of God (an apostle of God) consistently called himself a servant of God in his epistles. This was in reference to his service to God. Our service to God does not change our relationship with God, rather our service to God is in fact our honour to God for the relationship, fellowship and all spiritual realities we have in Christ.
The fact is, the understanding of these realities you have in Christ, will be a platform for serving the body of Christ in humility. In fact, an understanding of your realities as a believer, takes your eyes off you and fixes it on Jesus your saviour who is our Lord (which means master) where service is concerned. The understanding of your realities goes beyond the ‘I am righteous, I am justified, I cannot be condemned’ (and sadly enough, some believers will even say I can do anything I like). It goes beyond the ‘I am’ talk or declaration that focuses on yourself to service (fixing your gaze on Jesus your lord and master). All the ‘I am’ declarations you make will not even be possible without what Jesus did. So don’t let the ‘I am’ declarations make you fix your eyes on yourself (as though you are the one taking the glory), but let it make you fix your eyes on Christ who deserves all the glory) who is the reason you can now say ‘I am righteous’, ‘I am holy’, ‘I am justified, I am a child of God, I am son of God’ etc. The understanding of who Jesus is to you moves you into service. Hallelujah!!!

INSTRUCTION: Be humble when serving the body of Christ (the church).

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the revelation of my identity in you, I declare that I shall serve the church in humility, in Jesus name, Amen.

QUOTE: Don’t let your realities as a son make you ignore your responsibilities as a servant.
