“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the father of light, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures” – James 1:17-18.
LIGHT FOR NOW: We are children of God because we are born of God.
A vital fact we discovered in the course of our previous studies is the fact that the born again (who is begotten of the good and perfect will of God) is a child of the father of light because the father of light begat this man. Thus, in the family of God (in Christ); the household of faith, the household of God; the Church, the born again man naturally calls God Father, and this shows the relationship this man has with God; the way a father relates with his child is the way this man relates with God who is His Father therefore, a man is a child of God by birth (the new birth). I am God’s child because I am born of God. The epistles are replete with this (that we are children of God), therefore, let us see this with the overwhelming evidences from the epistle, “The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God; And if children, then heirs, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together (Romans 8:16-17). “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26) “Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children” (Ephesians 5:1), “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8).
The above references are overwhelming evidences to the fact that we believers are children of God, which by implication means God is our father. Now, observe Galatians 3:26 of the above reference again “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” How then are we the children of God or how does a man becomes a child of God? A man becomes a child of God by faith in Christ (Galatians 3:26).
Therefore, the day a man believes in Christ, that man automatically becomes a child of God; that man is welcomed to God’s family where he relates with God as a child relates with his father. We don’t have a distant relationship with God, we have a close/heartfelt relationship with God. God is our father and we are His children. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: The view we must have of God where our relationship with Him is concerned is that of a loving Father; thus you must ascertain in your mind the relationship you have with God in Christ is not a distant relationship, but a deep heartfelt relationship; the way a father relates with his child.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the deep/heartfelt relationship I have with you in Christ which is possible because of your resurrection; I am indeed grateful and eternally grateful for the display of your love for me in Jesus Name, Amen!
QUOTE: We don’t have a distant relationship with God, we have a close relationship with God.
