“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The wyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints” – Ephesians 1:16-18
LIGHT FOR NOW: The zeal for knowledge is a zeal you need to possess as believers.
The effectiveness of your Christian life is the degree of the knowledge of Christ you have; the degree of the knowledge of Christ you have is the degree of your effectiveness in your Christian walk. If you must walk in the fullness of your realities, you cannot afford to be ignorant of your identity. You have to be knowledge driven; it is the knowledge of who you are in Christ that unveils to you what you have in Christ and what Christ can do through you.
Thus, we can say that the ignorance of your identity in Christ robs you of what you have in Christ and what Christ can do through you. This is why knowledge is crucial in the life of the believer as it unveils to him what Christ has done
In Paul’s letter to Philemon, he emphasizes, “That the communication of your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” (Philemon 1:6). Paul lets Philemon see that the degree to which he acknowledges his realities (“every good thing”) is the degree to which he becomes or manifest those realities in Christ.
The word “acknowledging” used in Philemon 1:6 is the same word Paul used in his letter to the Ephesians’ church translated as knowledge in Ephesians 1:17 which was both translated from the same Greek word “epignosis” meaning precise, accurate or comprehensive knowledge. Observe in both letters, the knowledge is specific; the knowledge of Christ. Satan thrives on the ignorance of a believer and uses it to rob the believer of his identity.
This shows us that the ignorance of a believer is advantageous to the devil. You cannot give expression to your potentials in the word if you don’t know your identity in the word yourself. You have to know the word because that is where your realities are and it is from that standpoint that you can maximize your full potential in Christ.
INSTRUCTION: Your knowledge as a Christian is vital in Christianity.
PRAYER: I declare that the knowledge of your word floods my entire mind, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The knowledge of Christ unveils you.
