THE REALITIES OF THE NEW TESTAMENT – (PART TWO)

In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away – Hebrews 8:13

LIGHT FOR NOW:  We are of the New Testament and not of the Old.

The Old Testament was the ministration of condemnation but the New Testament brings righteousness. The Old Testament was in the flesh; the New Testament is in the Spirit. Hebrews chapter 8 verse 8 -12 says, “For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in the covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more”.

Trying to hold on to both the Old and New Testaments will affect your relationship with God. It will make you begin to see God in a bad light. The Old Testament is only a shadow or a type but the New Testament is the real substance. Hebrews chapter 10 verse 1 says, “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect”. The Old Testament justified no man. Justification is only in the New Testament. Romans chapter 4 verse 25 says, “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification”. Justification functions in the New. To be justified is to be declared not guilty. It is to be declared free, discharged and acquitted. The Old Testament was given only to the nation of Israel but the New Testament is given to all nations including Israel.

INSTRUCTION: Forget the Old. Embrace the New.

PRAYER: I am a product of the New Testament in the blood of Christ. I am in the reality of the person of Jesus, in Jesus Name.  Amen.

QUOTE: A believer in Christ is a product of the New Testament.
