“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things” – Romans 10:14-15
LIGHT FOR NOW: As a believer, it is your duty to reconcile the world to God.
Eternal life is given or communicated through the hearing of the good news about what Christ has done for us in his death, burial, resurrection and ascension. This is because it is faith in the gospel of Christ that saves. But the gospel cannot be heard without a preacher. Ephesians 1:13 says, “in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise”. This goes to show that the place of the preacher is very important in preaching or explaining the scriptures and revealing Christ therein for the hearer to believe and be saved. As an example, the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts chapter 8 verses 27-40, was reading Isaiah chapter 53 without understanding that the passage was talking about Christ, until the Spirit of God asked Philip to go close and explain the scriptures to him, after which he believed. Therefore, how can the people hear and believe the gospel of Christ without a preacher?
As believers, we are all sent into the world to preach the gospel of Christ and to give life to the lost souls of men. It is a specific assignment for all believers and not just for the Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers, Apostles and Prophets. It is your duty to spread the message about Christ where ever you find yourself. Every believer has been called into the ministry of reconciliation. We are to reconcile the lost souls back to God and the only way to reconcile the world to God is to show the God-kind of love and not by judging or condemning. The place of a preacher cannot be overemphasized. Jeremiah 3:15 says, “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding”. Also, Ephesians chapter 4 verses 12 and 13 highlights the importance of a preacher. It reads, “For the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”.
INSTRUCTION: Submit to your pastor.
PRAYER: I receive and accept the ministry of the pastor you have sent to feed me with the right knowledge of the Gospel of Christ, In Jesus Name. Amen.
