“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” –Romans 6:23
LIGHT FOR NOW: You do not labor for a gift; you receive a gift.
The coming of Jesus Christ was God made manifest to bring eternal life to all men through the gospel of his death, burial, resurrection and ascension into heaven. The Law of Moses could not achieve this. Rather, it condemned all men to sin. Jesus had to come to make eternal life a free gift of God for those who will believe the gospel. So eternal life is a gift and not a reward for what you did or you did not do. It is a free gift from God because no man in his human nature could attain it by conduct. You don’t labor for a gift, you receive a gift. In Christ, you only labour after receiving the gift of eternal life. And the reward for that labour is the crown of glory that will be given to all believers on the last day, for being faithful with the life they received and for their works done to grow the kingdom of God. So, salvation or eternal life is a gift. This is why some even choose to reject the gift even as we see people today rejecting the gospel that brings eternal life to men.
Friends, it is now free so that there would be no excuses. Jesus came to save you from the destruction of sin and death and, to freely give you abundant or eternal life. Recall that in John 10:10, Jesus declared, “the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. Also, John chapter 10 verses 28 and 29 read, “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand”.
INSTRUCTION: Accept the gift of eternal life.
Prayer: Father, I receive the free gift of eternal life which is in Christ Jesus. I continually walk in and enjoyabundant life of God in Christ, in Jesus Name!
QUOTE:Eternal life is a personality of Christ.
