“But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” – Romans 5:8

LIGHT FOR NOW: The Love of God is revealed in salvation.

The Love of God is revealed in salvation. Salvation is God’s love dispensed to humanity. The Bible in John chapter 3 verse 16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. The Love of God is expressed in the giving of Christ. The central figure of the scriptures is salvation. It is the summary of the entire Bible. Salvation is the major theme of the Bible and it is only made available in the person of Christ. There can be no salvation without a savior. Salvation is the action while the savior is the actor of the salvation. A savior is the one who saves. 1 Timothy chapter 4 verse 10 says, “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe”. The word, “savior” is gotten from the Greek word, “soter”, which refers to the actor of salvation. The savior protects from harm and the consequences of sin. He saves and keeps one safe from harm; protecting and defending from danger. Jesus is the “soter” who acts out the action of salvation; “soteria”.
There can be no salvation outside Christ. Christ is the expression of the love of God towards man. The fundamental part of our Christian life is to understand salvation. Without an understanding of salvation, one’s relationship with God is affected. He begins to see God in a bad light. It was out of love that God became man in order to save man. God had to reduce Himself to mortality in order to bring immortality to man. The Bible is a Christ-centered material that carries a Christ-centered message about the love of God towards man. Salvation is purely the work of God. We do not have any part to play in it. Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 and 9 (NLT) confirm this. They read, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you cant take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it”.

INSTRUCTION: Believe in the Love of God.

PRAYER: Father, I believe in your love for me. Thank you for loving me this much, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: Salvation only has an entrance; it doesn’t have an exit.
