“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” Romans 6:4
LIGHT FOR NOW: A born again man is a product of the resurrection of Christ.
Salvation is not all about forgiveness of sins. If salvation were to be all about the forgiveness of sins, there wouldn’t have been a need for Christ to be raised from the dead. His death on the Cross would have been enough. Afterall, His death paid for all our sins and guaranteed complete propitiation. This is redemption. Redemption refers to saving someone by having a price paid. When Jesus died, He effected payment for man’s sin – He paid the price for man’s redemption with His own life.
In the mind of God, when Jesus hung on the Cross, we were all hung with Him. When He cried out, ‘it is finished’, and gave up the ghost, we also died in Him. What Satan never imagined though was that Christianity will be based on the resurrection of Jesus and not on His death. The resurrection of Christ brought into being a new class of people, this is something far beyond redemption. Redemption could not attain this! The resurrection of Christ ushered us into a newness of life, a new realm of life – a New and a Higher Life!. The Bible records in Ephesians 2:6 that we have been raised up together in Christ. A Christian is one who identifies with the Resurrected Christ. He has no past record of sin for the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If any man be in Christ Jesus, he is a new creature”. This means that he is a new species, one that never existed before.
No wonder James declares, “of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures” (James 1:8). Being born again therefore, you become the fruit of the redemptive work of Christ. Redemption was consummated with his death, but Christianity came from His resurrection. A born again man is a product of the resurrection of Christ. The resurrection of Christ ushered us into a divine life – the very life of God. We have become Gods walking here on the earth. Yes! God now walks the earth through us by the virtue of the resurrection of Christ. This is what the resurrection of Christ made available for us. His death brought redemption; but His resurrection brought a newness of life. Hallelujah!!!
