‘In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins’.- Colossians 1:14
LIGHT FOR NOW: Christ effected the redemption of man.
The subject of redemption is not well taught by most teachers, but simply paraphrased in sermons at Easter celebrations. It is absolutely important that every believer have a full grip on what redemption is and how it was effected. The concept of redemption is all-encompassing such that when accurately understood by a believer, everything Christ paid for will be maximally appropriated by that believer. It is saddening to observe that most believers live far below their potentials in Christ. These ones do not comprehend what Christ did on their behalf; hence, there is a vital need for a thorough teaching on the theme,‘Redemption’!
Salvation through Christ or Redemption by Christ must be taught to believers. Salvation was taught to Timothy, that is why the Apostle Paul admonished him to continue in the things he learned. ‘But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing whom thou has learned them: And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus’ (2 Timothy 3:14-15).Having commended Timothy for knowing the holy scriptures, Paulreminded him that the scripture is profitable for doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16). The word ‘doctrine’ in this context is translated from the Greek word ‘Didaskalia’, which means teaching or explanation. It can be rightly said that the profitability of the scriptures is in teaching salvation through faith in Christ Jesus! From the foregoing, we can deduce that the only way we can benefit from the scripture is when Salvation or Redemption is taught and understood!
No Pastor or leader in the Christendom is instructed to teach his experiences; all his experiences put together cannot save him, neither can it save another man. You are not the message of the Bible. The only message in the Bible is Salvation; and that message is a person -Jesus Christ! The common thread that runs through the Bible is Christ. If the message is not centered on Christ, then it is a sheer waste of time. Jesus Christ and Him alone is the message of the scriptures! He must be taught to everyone that believes, because He is the savior of the world! He alone effected the redemption of man!
INSTRUCTION:Determine to teach Christ and Him alone. Resolve to learn Christ and nothing else!
Prayer: I resolve today, I will ever learn and teach Christ; and Him alone, in Jesus Name.
QUOTE:A message not centered on Christ amounts to crises.
