THE PRIESTHOOD OF JESUS CHRIST

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.’ – Hebrews 4:14

LIGHT FOR NOW: You have been empowered as a king and a priest!

It must be noted that God’s original intention was that everyone should be a priest and a king. This tells us God’s character in the place of giving – He is liberal in giving. Only God shares and gives His Kingdom to everyone. Would you like to be part of that kingdom? God is willing and eager to share His kingdom with you, only if you accept the offer. John 1:12 says ‘But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name’. By receiving Christ, you automatically receive power and an authority as God’s Son. All you need to do is to receive Christ by believing in Him. This way, you have been empowered as a king and a priest! Walk in the consciousness that you are both a king and a priest!

In the New Testament Covenant, all the believers are made priests and kings by reason of the person of Jesus. The sacrifice of Jesus qualifies believers to be kings and priests. In the Levitical Priesthood a sinful man served as the priest. He offers sacrifices for the atonement of his sins (Leviticus 4:3-4) and that of the whole nation. But Jesus Christ our High Priest, knew no sin. He was not a sinner, but our sin was laid upon Him. ‘For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5: 21).The Old Testament was based on conditions: obedience to the law. On the other hand, the New Testament is unconditional, but based on the price paid by Jesus Christ. Christ took away the sin of the world (John 1:29). Jesus Christ took away the sin-nature in man and the sinful acts of man. The very essence of His earthly mission was to save man from sin (Luke 5:32; 7:34).

Jesus Christ, our High Priest takes away both the guilt and the power of sin. We read in 1 John 3:6,9 ‘Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither know him. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God’.Christ by His sacrificial death redeemed us from sin. ‘Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus’ (Romans 3: 24).‘In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace’ (Ephesians 1:7).He redeemed us Priests and Kings.Revelation 1:6 says ‘And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever  and ever. Amen’.

INSTRUCTION:Walk in the consciousness that you are a king and a priest!
