“I thank my God, making mention of thee in my prayers, hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints; that the communication of your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:4-6
LIGHT FOR NOW: The reality of God’s word is predicated on Jesus.
We have seen from a body of scriptures that the bible is a Christ-centered material. So, if the bible is Christ centered, then its message is Christ centered. Jesus is the word in the bible; Christ is the explanation of all things. Now, it is important to note that your appreciation of the bible will first start from reading it. And in your reading of it, you will come to see Jesus in the message of the bible. The reality of the word of God is a person called Jesus. The person of Jesus is the efficacy of the word of God. God’s promise in the Old Testament books in Christ; Jesus is God’s promise and God’s promise fulfilled. The promise of the gospel is Christ Jesus. So, the word is an efficacious statement; the word is a person called Jesus. The reality of God’s word is predicated on Jesus, the fact that he died rose and us seated at the right hand of the father. That said; don’t forget that your appreciation of the bible will first start from reading it. You have to read your bible. Don’t forget, Jesus who is the personality of the word is contained in writings. So the revelation of Jesus will not be subjected to dreams, visions or experiences, the written word which is the bible reveals Jesus to us. So how will you know Jesus if you are not reading your bible? In fact, how can Jesus even be taught or preached without the bible? So, it is in the bible that we know Jesus; so we must learn to read it even as we are taught from the same. Now, if you will not know Jesus outside the bible, then is it you who is in Christ that will be known outside the bible? In other words, the same way the revelation of Christ has been committed to writing (in a book called the bible), the revelation of the believer also has been communicated to writing (in this book called the bible). Don’t forget we are on “knowing yourself in Christ”. So if I may ask: where will we know Christ? In the bible. Where are you? In Christ. So, where will we know you? In the bible. So, which material has God given to us to know Christ and ourselves in him? The bible. Further clarity is coming in subsequent studies.
INSTRUCTION: Read your bible!!!
PRAYER: I pray dear Lord that the culture of reading never ceases in my life; rather, it will be on an increase like never before, in Jesus Name. Amen.
