And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”. – 2 Timothy 3:15
LIGHT FOR NOW: You are in God’s thoughts.
Man’s disobedience to God’s word brought sin, and sin passed a death sentence upon the human race. Though Adam’s sin wasn’t automatic but the effect was experienced. Genesis 2:15 “And of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof”. Man lost the dominion and authority God had given by rejecting God, thereby making him subject to the devil.
This is why when man’s sin was explained by Isaiah in Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all” and by Paul in Ephesians 2:1-2 “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience”; they dealt with man’s nature and not his conduct because salvation is not by works but by the grace of God.
Jesus needed to come in as the second Adam and redeem man. Redemption makes it possible for man to enjoy the unmerited gift that is in God, which is the gift of everlasting life. When the work of redemption is accepted, it cancels the death proclamation on mankind. It is important to note that in God’s foreknowledge, God already made provision for the salvation of the man in Christ when he told Eve, “the seed of the woman shall bruise the head of the serpent” (Genesis 3:15). That was the promise of the Savior, and that seed was revealed in Christ. Therefore, as a man in Christ, you are not an afterthought; you are always in God’s thoughts. Glory!
