“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. – Romans 10:8-10
LIGHT FOR NOW: God’s revelation to us has been committed in writing.
The Holy Bible is what we call the book of faith, and it appeals to our Christian faith in all areas of our lives. Almost, the sixty-six books of our English Bible speak of faith. Relationships between God and man and of man to God are stated as facts, and this relationship seems to always relate with faith – God’s faith or man’s faith. The matters of the bible concern spiritual growth and its responsibilities; an area where science textbooks can’t explain.
The Bible is not filled with vain repetitions. It makes faith one great work of every believer, on which his present and future rests. There is nothing in the bible as constantly spoken of as faith. So, both the Old and New Testament books of the Bible have things to say about faith. Hence, believers should make the Bible their most treasured life’s manual.
Your knowledge of Christ on the subject of faith must not be outside the parameters of God’s word, that is, the written word of God, which is the sixty-six books we have. All of God’s revelation has been committed to writing. There is no greater revelation of God outside the word of God. An attempt to know God outside his written word will land you in error. Also, an attempt to come to a place of comprehension on the subject of faith outside the sixty-six books we have (the bible) will end you in error. Hence, the bible is our book of faith. A book or CD, therefore, will be inspired to the degree to which it draws its inspiration from the scriptures. Stay with the sixty-six books of the bible you have. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Know God only by his word!
CONFESSION: I am committed to the knowledge of God’s word in the reading of the written word, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
QUOTE: The inspiration of scriptures should be the authority of any inspired book or CD on God’s word.
