“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places” – Ephesians 1:16-20
LIGHT FOR NOW: Upon salvation, the believer is no more deficient of power because the totality of God’s power took residence inside him.
There is power in the believer in Christ. In Ephesians 3:20, Paul echoes “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”. Notice, “according to the power at work in us”. Paul’s words make it clear here that the power is at work in every believer, not in only pastors. Paul says that he is able (that is, has the capacity) to do exceeding, abundantly above (far beyond our desires and expectations), but according to the power at work in us. There is power at work in the believer; that power was the power that brought about the new creation. That power does not cease to operate, it brings to fulfillment all the purposes and plans of God in the life of the believer. We were not half saved in the new birth; we are complete in him the head of principalities and powers (Colossians 2:9-10).
We have everything that is in Christ in us; Christ is the center of all things. The power in operation in us is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. That is why Paul in our key text (Ephesians 1:16-20) says that this power is the power that has wrought in Christ when he was raised from the dead. That is the power that raised us from spiritual death and brought eternal life into our hearts. This is the power at work in us. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: You are not powerless, put God’s power in you to work.
CONFESSION: I put God’s power to work in the place of prayers, and I have delivery of all I pray for, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The believer cannot have a power problem, he can only have a knowledge problem.
