“Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Luke 10:19
LIGHT FOR NOW: The resurrection and exaltation of Jesus equals the resurrection and exaltation of the believer in him.
The Passion Translation of Ephesians 1:19-21echoes, “I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of the immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honour and supreme authority in the heavenly realm! And now he is exalted as first above every ruler, authority, government, and realm of power in existence! He is gloriously enthroned over every name that is every name that is ever praised, not only in this age; but in the age that is coming!” Born again is a resurrection life which is our reigning life. It’s also clear that we are the residents of God’s power. That is why the Passion Translation says that power is available to us, and the Amplified version clears it more by saying that the power is in us and for us.
Upon the resurrection, there is exaltation to a place of highest honour and supreme authority in the heavenly realm. This is what was rendered in the King James Translation as the “right hand of God” where it reads, “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places”. Upon resurrection, Jesus was exalted to sit at the father’s right hand. That “right hand” he was exalted to sit upon resurrection does not mean right hand side; that is, Jesus literally sitting on a chair or throne somewhere at the father’s right hand. That sitting at the father’s right hand is what the Passion Translation explains better as him being exalted to the place of highest honour and supreme authority in the heavenly realm. The question is where is this place? If Jesus’ resurrection was our resurrection as we had rightly seen, then Jesus’ exaltation was our exaltation. That exaltation to the father’s right hand where he sits, the place of supreme authority in the heavenly realm was our exaltation to the father’s right hand where we sit; meaning we sit in a place of supreme authority in the heavenly realm be virtue of being in Christ. Glory!
