LIGHT FOR NOW: Jesus’ victory is the believer’s victory.
Jesus resurrection is paramount to the Christian faith. Apostle Paul made this clear in 1st Corinthians 15:16- 18. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. Jesus mission appeared to have failed and ended when he died on the cross.
During his earthly ministry, he had told the disciples that he will die but also, will he resurrect. “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matthew 12:38). On other occasion he said, he would be killed but on the third day he will be risen. The Pharisees knew all necessary measures to keep him in the grave. All the measures taken to keep Christ in the tomb only made His victory over death and the grave very loud. The actions of the chief priest and the Pharisees revealed how afraid they were of our lord Jesus Christ even in his death. However, Jesus victory over the kingdom of darkness was secured on the cross and confirmed by the empty grave. Though Jesus’ humanity died, His divinity was very much alive. In Christ’s divinity, He possessed the power and authority to break the bonds of death. Glory!
