“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto Salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” – Romans 1:16

LIGHT FOR NOW: The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation

The main essence of believers in Christ is to promote the Gospel. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. In other words, God’s power to save, help deliver and bless is in the Gospel. All a man needs is to hear and believe the Gospel of Christ. The Gospel is the answer to man’s problems. This was the understanding and conviction that the Christians in the early church had that made them preach the Gospel fearlessly. They were bold and confident with the Gospel. They were arrested, beaten and even killed for the sake of the Gospel, all because of their understanding that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Despite the fierce opposition and persecution they faced, they were undeterred and still went on preaching the Gospel of Christ (Acts 5:41). It is not enough to preach and be convinced that it is only hope for men. Your personal understanding of the Gospel is very important because your life will be a reflection of the gospel you understand. Your understanding of the Gospel is your perception of what Christ came to do, and its importance, impact and relevance in your life. This is what will form your message. If you don’t fully understand the true Gospel of Christ, you will believe wrongly and therefore preach the wrong message.

The same message the Apostles preached, which Jesus Himself began to both do and teach is what we have the privilege to take to our world today. Be sure that it is the true message you preach. Study it. Understand it. There are no options to the Gospel. There is no other way to the Father except Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father except by me” (John 14:6). This is the absolute reality and it must form the basis of your convictions: your speech, your thinking. Your outlook on life must be from this understanding and persuasion about Christ and His Gospel because Jesus is the Gospel. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Preach the Gospel of Christ with boldness

CONFESSION: Father, I thank you for the understanding of the Gospel of Christ I have, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

QUOTE: It is your understanding that shapes your perception.
