“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.” – Isaiah 60:1-5
LIGHT FOR NOW: When you skip reading the framework of doctrine, your aim and desire to wholesomely understand doctrine will be disappointed.
For a systematic order of understanding on how to read scriptures in context, we’ve said:
- The context of the synoptic or four gospels (Matthew to John) is the Old Testament.
- The context of the book of Acts is the synoptic gospels and the Old Testament.
- The context of the epistles is the book of Acts, the synoptic gospels and the Old Testament.
- In the Old Testament, the context of Joshua to Malachi is the writings of Moses (Genesis to Deuteronomy).
Hence, all bible doctrine can be found or traced to Moses. That’s why Jesus’ teaching notes began from Moses. The teaching notes of the Apostles in the epistles will equally begin from Moses. Moses therefore, is the father of doctrine because he led the framework for doctrine. You can further say that the context of Joshua to Revelation is Moses. In removing the writing of Moses, bible doctrine will have no framework. That is why reading the first five books of the bible is very critical before reading any other book of the bible. You have missed the framework of bible doctrine if you omit reading the first five books of the bible. The first five books of the bible are like the whole bible compressed into five. This is because from Joshua to Revelation, their context is derived from these first five books. The authority of Moses (Genesis to Deuteronomy) is where Joshua to Revelation derives their authority from. Hallelujah!!!
INSTRUCTION: It’s vital you read the first five books of the bible.
PRAYER: The zeal for diligent reading is ignited in me, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: You can’t miss the framework of doctrine and aim to wholesomely understand doctrine.
