“Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations” – Psalm 90:1
LIGHT FOR NOW: If it is not in Christ, it’s not of God.
Ephesians 1:13 says, “Ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise” and this refers to every believer. When you became born again, you were sealed and this was done by the Holy Ghost. Being sealed gives a person a distinct mark in his life; it represents ownership, security, and authenticity. And these three elements provide the individual with an indemnity that is guaranteed by God. The born-again status protects you from harm; Satan can’t touch you, because the mark of God is on you. That’s what Psalm 91:7 says, “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.” And verse 10 says, “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling”. The seal therefore is that which separates you from danger; you’re protected and preserved by the power of the Holy Spirit; the devil will have no place in your life when you understand this. If you’re attacked by sickness, disease or infirmity, it’s your place to command it to leave your body. This is what gives you the confidence assurance that no plan of the adversary can work against you – the seal of God is on you.
So as a believer, you shouldn’t be afraid of the crises, troubles, uncertainties and overwhelming spread of evil in the world today. Perilous times are here and only a fool would deny this fact; there are overwhelming evidences to this, which has left many heart quaking. But those in Christ can never be disadvantaged; they’re preserved, because, in Him we live, and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). In John 16:33, Jesus rightly said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. The phrase “in Christ” appears about 130 times in the Pauline epistles; other related phrases are “in whom”, “through whom” and “by whom” and when added up, it is 160 times. And if something is written to you about 160 times, you ought to pay attention to it. The phrase “in- Christ” is a reality; meaning, if it’s not in Christ, it’s not of God. The fullness of God dwells in Christ; everything you will find in God is in Christ and we are complete in Him (Colossians 2:9-10). So, if I am in Christ, then Christ lives in me. But many don’t understand this truth because they are always looking at their short comings. This is the revelation that God gave to Paul that has defined Christianity for all ages (Galatians 1:11-12). More will be revealed in our subsequent studies. Hallelujah!
