YOU ARE A SON OF GOD (10)

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you” – 1 Corinthians 3:16

LIGHT FOR NOW: The Holy Spirit is the greatest gift any human can receive.

The indwelling of the Spirit is a reality of the man in Christ; the Spirit has been given, and by faith in the Gospel, he has received the Spirit; he has the Spirit today and forever. The indwelling of the Spirit implies that the Spirit lives in you, not as a temporary place of abode, but as a permanent place of abode, a permanent residence. Thus, it will be wrong for the believer to assume that he is without the spirit at any given time. It is this reality and the consciousness of it that makes the believer invincible. The Holy Spirit is the greatest gift any human can receive because once you have it, you can never perish. Worthy of note is the fact that in their writings, Paul’s usage of the word “Spirit” was John’s usage of “eternal life”.

Unfortunately, most believers have been wrongly taught; hence, they don’t enjoy the full benefits and ministry of the indwelled Spirit in them. Some of them think that the Holy Spirit sometimes leaves them just because they made a mistake and to them, during such time they don’t “feel” His presence. But the truth is, Christianity isn’t a feeling but a knowing; you don’t have to “feel” God to know that He’s always with you. Jesus said when the Spirit comes, He will abide in us forever (John 14:16). That you did something wrong won’t make the Holy Spirit leave you because you weren’t made righteous by your own effort, he came because God gave you His own righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). It therefore means that His presence with you isn’t dependent on what you did right or wrong, or how you feel. It’s completely dependent on what Christ has done. Hence, He said, He will never leave nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Matter of fact, the Holy Spirit in you is to keep reminding you of your righteous status in Christ even when you make a mistake (John 16:8-11). He guides you into repentance, assuring you of His abiding presence at such times.

INSTRUCTION: You are sealed with the Holy Ghost; acknowledge this!
