“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.” – Isaiah 60:1-5
LIGHT FOR NOW: The documentation of the bible has its order of arrangement and sequence.
The law of systematic bible reading and interpretation is one of the most crucial laws as far as bible reading and interpretation is concerned. The importance of this law is so massive, that it can help in solving a lot of bible interpretation issues. The bible has a systematic or organized manner it was written; it has its sequence of arrangement. We have Genesis, then Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy down to Malachi (which is the sequence of what have been referred to the Old Testament books of the bible within the conduit of documentation). Then, we have Matthew, Mark, Luke, John down to Revelation (the books that are documentation wise referred to as the New Testament books of the bible). In essence, in the documentation of this book called the bible, it has its order of arrangement; it has its sequence. That systematic and chronological manner it was written and organized says a lot on how it is to be read and interpreted. What in essence do we mean? Let’s begin to analyze.
Recall, a concept of interpreting scriptures is referred to in this study as the concept of contextual analysis of bible text. The contextual analysis concept was where we saw that you don’t read a verse of scripture in isolation of the surrounding verses. That is, you must observe the pretexts and the post-texts, and then bring it to the context. In the law of systematic reading and interpretation, context here is being advanced beyond a chapter or text of scripture. In essence, the context in this law is the whole bible itself. In other words, you’ve not read the bible in context if you’ve not read the whole book together and in a systematic, sequential and chronological order. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: Bible study is diligence; you must be diligent.
Prayer: Now more than ever, I declare that I am very diligent in the study of God’s word, in Jesus Name, Amen
QUOTE: You have not read the bible in context if you’ve not read the whole book put together.
