“I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus ” – Philemon 1:4-6
LIGHT FOR NOW:You cannot live in the robust of your realities in Christ if you are ignorant of your realities in Christ.
We are looking at the good thing in the believer in which we are directing the study towards the believer’s authority. We have said that the believer’s authority is not just available, it is a necessity. God did not give believers authority as an ornament; the responsibility that awaits the believer upon being saved necessitates the authority. So a vital truth every believer must comprehend is his authority; the believer’s authority must be known by the believer if it must be maximized and if the believer wants to live in the victory that God has provided in Christ. Hence, Paul’s words in Philemon 1:4-6 are very critical as we begin to unbundle vital truths. Authority available but not known is of no use. Remember, the believer’s authority is a product of his identification with Christ. It is one thing for the authority to be available, but it is another thing to know that the authority is available and then enforce the authority that is available.
This is why knowledge cannot be overemphasized. A believer that is in ignorance cannot live in the robust of his realities. And in talking about authority, part of the believer’s reality by virtue of his identity in Christ is his authority. A believer that is thus ignorant of his realities in Christ cannot live in the robust of that reality. A believer that is in authority but doesn’t know that he is in authority will live his life as though he were not in authority. And this becomes identity crisis. It is identity crisis to live below your possibilities, abilities and capacity in Christ. This calls for the necessity of knowledge. The knowledge of who you are in Christ is critical if you must have an effective Christian walk on the earth. A believer who has given ignorance a kingly seat in his life can’t know his authority in Christ or his realities in what God in Christ has accomplished in us. It is for this reason that Paul prays the above prayer in our key text above which will be unbundled in subsequent studies. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: Go for knowledge.
PRAYER: I declare that I am passionate for knowledge like never before, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: A believer that is in authority but doesn’t know that he is in authority will live his life as though he were not in authority.
