SIN AND THE BELIEVERS’ RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD (8)

My little children, these things write I unto you that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world – 1John 2:1-2

LIGHT FOR NOW: When believers go wrong, the judging or correction from God’s word is to effect a correction in their lives.

Being contrite and sorry for wrongdoings isn’t sin consciousness. The born again man in his spirit finds sin repulsive. Saying you are sorry or admitting you sinned isn’t doubting the finished work of Christ or redemption; rather, doubting the finished work of redemption will be seen in you feeling condemned. Don’t forget that God judging when the believer goes wrong is to effect correction and not condemnation; it is not out of place to be contrite, apologize or feel sorry for acting below your realities. The reason for this is not to receive forgiveness because you have already been forgiven; it is because your nature repels sin, that is why this happened and it is also a proof that the correction is effective. It is when people don’t have the knowledge of God’s word, they will say, “when you sin as a believer, don’t feel sorry for it because that is condemnation; rather, always declare that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”. Anybody who tells you this is clearly confused. If all you do after a misconduct as a believer is to declare “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” and move on, then yourbeing born again needs to be questioned. If you are born of God, after declaring that, it should dawn on you that you are wrong and it will judge you for correction to be effective but if it does not, then you are a product of a misinformed gospel and because of that, you will go ahead misbehaving and be declaring “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” ignorantly. This is why you must learn the gospel wholesomely and not pick what you want to hear. When a believer yields to that judging, the proof of that will be repentance. The question you should ask is what is repentance to the believer? Repentance to a believer is the renewing of the mind. In our subsequent studies, we are going to unbundle and correct certain errors as touching what the Holy Spirit does when believers sin. Some people believe and have been taught that all the Holy Spirit does when we sin is to tell us that we are righteous and sad enough, they have scriptures for this. We will see how correct this is or if those scriptures have been misinterpreted. Hallelujah!!!

INSTRUCTION:Know God’s word wholesomely.

PRAYER: My life on earth becomes a living expression of the character of the new creation, in Jesus Name.  Amen.

QUOTE: Learning the word selectively gives you shallow knowledge and not deep knowledge.
