LIVING THE LIFE OF HONOUR AS A BELIEVER (1)

“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.” – Romans 12:9-13

LIGHT FOR NOW: Members of a local church must be clothed with honour.

As believers, we must come to a place of comprehension that they are overwhelming instructions in scriptures as touching our conduct as believers and moves the way we ought to conduct ourselves in a local assembly or in the gathering of the saints. So, don’t be careless in your words as a believer, that is, don’t say “in Christianity, conducts don’t matter”. Such a statement is a careless and an unintelligent statement because they are instructions (which are overwhelming) in the scriptures as to how a believer ought to conduct himself or how his manner of life ought to be regulated. Though conduct is not a qualification of being a believer but faith in Christ and also bad conduct being exhibited by a believer after he had believed does not change his status from one who is a believer (one born of God and indwelt by God’s spirit) to an unbeliever, but one of the proof of spiritual growth is that you will begin to reflect the conduct of the new creature in your walk here on earth.
You know, some people only want to hear “you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”, but they don’t want to hear “righteousness consciousness produces right living”.

They do what is called “selective hearing/listening”; that is, they hear what they want and ignore the ones they don’t want. But that ought not to be; we must know the scriptures wholesomely and walk in the fullness of its realities here on earth. You know righteousness for instance, is who we are. Righteousness, holiness, justification, sanctification, purification; all these are our nature, our conduct is only a reflection of it in our walk. Our conduct is not what beings this nature mentioned above, the nature preceded the conduct (because this nature is received by faith in Christ).

So a believer not living right doesn’t mean he is not righteous, holy, justified, sanctified, purified, it only means he is not walking in his realities; he has not allowed the consciousness of his realities to occupy his mind or better still he has a mind that is not renewed or he has not allowed his nature reflect in his conduct.

So, we are not living right to be righteous, we are righteous so we live right. Right living (actions) doesn’t produce righteousness (status), rather righteousness (status) produces right living (actions). And with this in mind, the subject of honour will follow. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Avoid selective learning and go for wholesome learning.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray for myself that I don’t have itching ears, hearing what tickles my fancy and ignoring a wholesome learning of your word in Jesus Name. Amen.

QUOTE: It is better not to learn at all than to be a selective learner of the scriptures.
