“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” – Matthew 24:14
LIGHT FOR NOW: The message of the church is the gospel of Christ.
The Gospel of Christ is the message of the church. It is the good news about Christ. This good news is not the incarnation; it is also not the anointing of Jesus; it is not His temptation in the wilderness. These facts (His incarnation, anointing and temptation which we saw in previous studies with scriptural references) lay the foundation for the good news but are not the news itself. In John 1:14, John says “And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father), full of grace and truth”. So the incarnation was for man to see and behold His humanity; this is important. In Hebrews 4:15, the writer of Hebrew says “For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin”. His overcoming temptation is the triumph of His divinity in His humanity. Yet, this is not the good news that saves; it is rather his witness and testimony.
In Peter’s sermon in Acts 10, Peter said in verse 38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him”. His ministry is worth studying; His works; the healing ministry; miracles; they make him stand out, yet nothing here saves a sinful man. The Gospel must be witnessed with these incontrovertible facts but the message itself is situated within three (3) and consequently four (4) major events. Here is the good news that saves: 1Corinthians 15:1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”. So the Gospel of Christ is situated within these 3 and consequently 4 major events: • His death • His burial • His resurrection and • His ascension to the father’s right hand. Within these facts listed above is the message that saves a man. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: Preach the message of His death, burial, resurrection and ascension to the Father’s right hand like never before.
PRAYER: Father, I declare that I am not moved away from the Gospel of Christ. I am established in it and I preach it all day long, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: The incarnation or humanity of Jesus is not the gospel that saves, they only lay the foundation of the gospel that saves.
