“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be unto you and peace from God our father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ – Ephesian 1:1-3.
LIGHT FOR NOW: The fact of the fatherhood of God is to describe the relationship we have with God.
It is very clear from the facts established in previous studies (from the overwhelming evidences in scriptures) that the fatherhood of God is found in Christ, and thus outside of Christ a man cannot be fathered by God or it is impossible for a man to be part of the family of God outside of Christ. That is, the family of God is found in Christ and in this family, God is our Father; and thus we relate with God as a father relates with his son. In other words, the fact of the father and son implies a relationship. And thus, there is therefore a relationship with God, the father, which is found in Christ. This is the fact Paul echoes in Ephesians 3:14 which reads “for this cause I bow my knees unto the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named”. Thus, the family of God is found in Christ, outside of Christ, a man cannot be part of the family of God.
Now observe Paul’s words in the previous chapter of the same book of Ephesians; “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10). Notice, in verse 8 he says “… by grace ye are saved through faith and subsequently in verse 10 he says” … we are His workmanship, created in Christ. It could just be safely implied that this family (the family of God) is the reality of the Father in Christ (which is salvation). The man in Christ who is created anew is in this family because he has believed in Christ.
“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2Corinthians 5:17). The reality of the new creation is the birth into a new family; it is the present day reality of the man (the born again man) by faith in the gospel of Christ. Thus, by the identification of the believer with what God has done in Christ, he becomes a family member in God’s family. Therefore, faith in the gospel of Christ is what makes a man a member of God’s family. Hallelujah.
You are a member of God’s family; this is your reality, therefore, acknowledge it.
Thank you Lord for making me a member of the household of faith by faith in Christ, I am your son and I relate with you as a son relates with his father, Amen!
QUOTE: In Christ is where we find the union with God and man where we can trace the family of God.
