“My little children, these things write I unto you that ye sin not. And if any sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.” – 1 John 2:1

LIGHT FOR NOW: You are born of the word. Your realities will only unfold to you as you look into the word continually.

A vital fact that must be comprehended from John’s submission in his epistle is that sin does not affect a believer’s fellowship with the father. However, are we believers supposed to live in sin? The answer is no. James in his epistle brings clarification to this subject.

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself and goeth his way, and straightaway forgetteth what manner of man he was” (James 1:22-24). James in the above text uses the word ‘deceiving your own selves’ which from its Greek word implies to reason differently, falsely; to act contrary to who you are. The word, ‘deceiving’ in this context deals with conduct. This implies that any sinful misconduct carried out by the believer is contrary to his nature. That is, the believer acts contrary to who he is when he sins; he is pretending to be who he is not.

Such a believer is not looking at his realities in the word which James describes as the perfect law of liberty in verse 25 of the same chapter.
The problem with the believer in any sinful act is not the sin itself, the problem with such a believer is that he is not looking into the word. Such a believer is not acknowledging his realities. That is why after being born again, there is a place for spiritual growth (which is growth in the word); this is what corrects behavioral misconduct. Sinful habit will not go by prayer even though prayer is important. It will go by your conscious study of the word of God. You have to look into the word, the perfect law of liberty and life; let it influence you.

INSTRUCTION: Consciously grow in the word.

PRAYER: I am born of the word. I am what the word says I am and I do what the word says. Amen.

QUOTE: The quality of your Christian walk is equivalent to the quality of the word of God you have on your inside.
