“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new” – 2Corinthians 5:17
LIGHT FOR NOW: You are a creature that had not existed before.
It is important to note firstly that the reality of the new creation is in the world. Now, the question that comes is, what did Paul mean by the term new creature? Note the word “new” in the above text was translated from the Greek word “kainos”. The word “kainos” implies freshness. The new creature implies a beginning and not a change. The new creation is not a changed person; he is new. Thus, the term new creation refers to a new kind of people. That is, the new creature is one who had never existed before.
The new creature is not one who just changed his character; the new creature is the man in Christ; a brand new man and not an upgrade. Jesus in his conversation with Nicodemus makes an important statement; “Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Observe the word “born again” does not mean second birth.
The word “again” used with the word born is not English Language but bible language. That word “again” means anew or from above (that is God). That word “born again” therefore implies born anew or born from above. Thus, the new creation is one who is born anew, born of God.
Thus, the born again man is a new person that cannot be traced to any former history; this man just began to exist. The new creation is not any kind of humanity, it is the humanity of men in Christ; this man has no past record. You cannot define him by looking at his past. This man is born of the word and you will define him by only looking into the word. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1Peter 2:9).
You are a new creation, born of God, begotten of the father of light, a chosen generation, a royal people, an holy nation. That is who you are. Hallelujah!!!
INSTRUCTION: Take what the word says about you as your reality and not what anybody thinks about you.
PRAYER: I am grateful for your accomplished work in me. I forever fixed my eyes and gaze on your finished work and maximize who I am in you, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: To be born again implies a new beginning.
