WE HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” – John 5:24

LIGHT FOR NOW: To be raised together with Christ is to receive His life.

The Gospel of Christ is centered on the sufferings, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Christ. The resurrection of Christ is the most important aspect of the gospel. This is because if Christ had not risen, then our preaching would be in vain. The resurrection of Christ from the dead brought eternal life and victory over the power of sin and death. While it is good to celebrate the death of Christ, it is the resurrection of Christ that is most commemorative. This is because the transactions that took place in his death, burial and resurrection are the basis of our faith. Everyone who identifies with his resurrection is raised together with him. Romans 6:4 says, “therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life”. Also, Colossians 2:12 says, “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead”.  To be raised together with Christ is to receive his life. Having been raised together with Him by faith through the operation of the Spirit of God, you have been passed from death to life. Your belief in the redemptive work of Christ resurrects you to life with Christ. Remember, resurrection is not a day neither is it an event. Resurrection is a person (John 11:24-25).

When you identify with the person of Jesus, all that he achieved or has becomes yours. Just as Jesus defeated death unto life, so also, everyone who believes in him has escaped death. The Bible in John chapter 5 verse 24 confirms this. It reads, “verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life”. Also, 1John chapter 5 verses 11-13 buttresses this truth. They read, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life”. Apostle Peter summarized this point in 1 Peter 1:3. He says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”. We now have a lively hope by the power of his resurrection because his resurrection is our resurrection.

INSTRUCTION: Be identified in the resurrection of Christ.

Prayer: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, in Jesus Name!

QUOTE:Resurrection is not an event; Resurrection is a person.
