‘For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.‘ – Hebrews 9:13-14
LIGHT FOR NOW: Belief in the Gospel purges the conscience from dead works!
The writer of the Book of Hebrews was addressing the Jews – the Hebrews. As those born into the law, these Jews understood the effectiveness of sacrifice. Noted, sacrifices and offerings were regular religious practices which formed the bases for forgiveness of sins and other blessings. These rituals were sustained if they were to enjoy the blessings continually.
It was on this background that the writer pointed out to them the efficacy of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In this case, he drew their attention to the extent to which animal blood could cleanse their sin. Nonetheless, he helped them to acknowledge one truth: That the efficacy of the blood of Jesus assumes a wider scope in comparison to that of animals.
Jesus Christ, through Eternal Spirit offered Himself to God! You have to purge yourself; be free from sin-consciousness. Believe in the redemption by Christ. Your sacrifices or services to are not acceptable until your sin-consciousness is purged. Let it be established in your spirit that Christ is your Mediator. Jesus did not enter a physical structure. He appeared in the realm! ‘For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us’. (Hebrews 9:24). He made a down-payment for sin and your sins; past, present and future. This is the Truth that sets man free (John 8:32).
A knowing man is a resting man. You cannot rest until you purge your conscience from dead works. Jesus Christ died for both sin (the nature) and sins (actions) of man. You have to know this. And, once you do, you will be bold. Nobody brings you down in your own right, except you don’t know!
INSTRUCTION: Believe in the redemption by Chris.
PRAYER: Lord, I am grateful that you redeemed me from sin, in Jesus name.
