“I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive” – Acts 20:35
LIGHT FOR NOW: One of the reasons we are saved is to live for God and live for others.
Jesus was never against the rich people. As a matter of truth, He had rich men as His disciples. One of such was Joseph of Arimathea who had to give his grave to Jesus because he heard Jesus teaching that it is more blessed to give than to receive. So many people gave material things to Jesus in order to support his ministry (Luke 8:1-3). But in this 21st century, there are many believers who are so selfish in the place of giving. They only recognize the saviourship of Jesus but not the Lordship of Jesus (Colossians 1:12-13). They believe that after they have been saved, they can now live for themselves. But this is not true. Throughout the synoptic gospel, Jesus warned people about self. Jesus said in Matthew 19:29, “And everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life”.
When you forsake all and follow Jesus, that is when you recognize the lordship of Jesus. In this context, the summary, only Christ is your source. Until you come to this understanding, you may be born again but not yet free from the spirit of self or stinginess. 2 Corinthians 5:15 says, “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again”. This is to show that no believer in Christ is allowed to live for himself because he is nothing and has nothing outside of Christ. The entire life of the believer is fixed in Christ. There can be no believer without Christ.
INSTRUCTION: Let go of self and learn to live for others.
Prayer: Lord, I receive grace to live for you and also for others, in Jesus Name! Amen!!
QUOTE: There can be no believer without Christ.
