“of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow ” – 1 Peter 1:10-11
LIGHT FOR NOW: Scriptures remain the source of our faith.
Understanding salvation is the beginning of happiness, joy and peace. Nobody got saved without being preached to from the scriptures. Scriptures remain the source of our faith. The gospel of Christ must contain the facts or outlines of the scriptures. Once the facts are absent, then the message is not of God but an excellency of speech. The Apostles preached the facts that were seen in the scriptures. This means that the Epistles were written in the light of these facts. The suffering of Christ is His death and burial, and the glory is that we have been made righteous as He came out of the grave. A believer is a product of God’s glory and there is no shame in glory. Jesus approved the messages of the prophets (2Peter 1:20-21). John 5:39-40 says, “search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life”.
Jesus was simply saying that the subject matter of the scriptures is His person. Both Jesus and the Apostles preached from the scriptures. To know God, you must know Christ. John 1:18 says, “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him”. Do not be distracted by situations and what people say, but stay focused on Christ. The gospel is not about miracles, nor about testimonies of needs being met but the gospel is a message with specific facts. All that we ever need is in Christ, and all that God had promised us is in Him.
