YOUR UNION WITH CHRIST IS INSEPARABLE (2)

“Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (By grace ye are saved). And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” – Ephesians 2:5-6

LIGHT FOR NOW:  The believer and Christ have been united eternally.

From our opening text, it is clear that that the believer has been quickened together with Christ. This is actually a union. Thus, what Paul is teaching here is in tandem with what Jesus taught in John 14 as examined few days ago when Jesus said, “where I am, you will be also”. Jesus came to us in his resurrection. Likewise in John 4:23 “But the hour cometh, and now is when true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth: for the father seeketh such to worship him”. In essence, the place of the father’s worship is in the believer, who is in eternal union with the father, in Christ. Clearly seen, Jesus in his explanation in context of John 4 took her focus of the physical Jerusalem/ the temple built for worship to a spiritual reality – a spiritual dwelling place, which is the man in Christ (the believer). Thus, the phrase, ‘in spirit and in truth’ was in reference to a people; the father’s household; the New Creation! The believer is the temple of God! “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). Paul repeated the same thing he said in 1 Corinthians 3:16 in 1 Corinthians 6:17-20. You are the temple of God. The believer is the temple of God and the righthand of the father is in the believer. That is, the authority of the father is in the believer (in Christ).

We are seated together with Christ. That is, we are in an inseparable union with Christ. Let’s pay more attention to verse 6 of Ephesians 2 “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”. The term, ‘sit together’ was translated from the Greek word ‘sugkatizo’ which implies you cannot find one without the other. That is, where Christ is, is where the believer is. What is in Christ is in the believer. What Christ can do, the believer can do. What Christ cannot do, the believer cannot do. As he is, so we are. We are eternally united. Deity and humanity have been amalgamated never to be separated. You are in Christ and Christ is in you; you are where Christ is and where Christ is, is in you. Therefore, the right hand of the Father is in the believer because Christ is in the believer. You have been united never to be divided.

INSTRUCTION: Ponder on your realities and maximize your potentials in Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for making me your dwelling place. I thank you for making me your house, your temple. Thank you for what your resurrection has made out of me, in Jesus Name.  Amen.
