“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” – Romans 8:9-16
LIGHT FOR NOW: When the spirit comes in to live in the believer, he comes to live in the believer never to leave the believer.
We have seen that the promise of the spirit in the epistles pointed to “residence” and “permanence”. Thus, in the epistles, the “spirit within” was the focal point from which the giving of the spirit is explained. 1Corinthians 3:16 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” Let’s read this text in the Passion Translation and observe the use of words: 1Corinthians 3:16 “Don’t you realize that together you have become God’s inner sanctuary and that the Spirit of God makes his permanent home in you?” (TPT). So, you are God’s inner sanctuary. The believer is God’s sanctuary. God’s spirit has made a permanent home in you.
If many believers have realized this truth or understood this truth or even believe this truth, then, they are certain songs they wouldn’t be singing, and some messages we have been hearing in the Christendom would have ceased. How can a believer be singing; “God prepare me a sanctuary, pure and holy, righteous and true; with thanksgiving…” How can the one who is God’s sanctuary be singing to God to prepare him a sanctuary? Hear this: Our songs should be songs of redemption; songs that agree with the truth of the gospel. Any gospel singer whose songs don’t align with the truth of the gospel is in error. We are God’s sanctuary now and forever! We are his dwelling place. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: We are God’s sanctuary – acknowledge this!
CONFESSION: I have been made God’s house, God’s residential address! All of God resides me, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The believer is God’s sanctuary.
