“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” – Romans 8:9-16
LIGHT FOR NOW: The spirit of God upon the new birth came into the believer to reside forever. He will never leave the believer.
Every believer has been born again and that new birth actually implies to be born of the spirit. The implication of this will be seen in the fact that at the new birth, a man receives the spirit and this is an eternal reality. Hear Jesus affirming this in John 14:16-17 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you”. Jesus says he shall abide with you for how long? The answer is forever. Recall, that we had seen that the promise of the spirit of the four gospels pointed to “residence” and “permanence”. Hence, in Jesus’ words in John 14:16-17, we see that concept implied here;
• The spirit will abide in us implies residence.
• The spirit abiding in us forever implies that his residence in us is permanent; it is forever.
Let’s look at the Passion rendition of this verse; John 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me – and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you know him intimately because he remains with you and will live inside you” (TPT). So, the spirit lives inside us, and the spirit will never leave us. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Believe the word! If the word says the spirit will never leave you, don’t believe anything else contrary to that truth.
DECLARATION: The spirit of God abides inside me; He lives in me forever, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: God’s spirit living in the believer is an eternal reality; hence, he will never leave the believers.
