“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things” – Matthew 6:25-26, 31-32
LIGHT FOR NOW: Goodness goes beyond what God does, goodness is who God is! He is good in disposition (action) because in his nature, goodness is the very fabric and core of his person.
Let’s get back to Apostle James’ words in James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. The pretext of this verse gives us the reason for verse 17; James 1:16 “Do not err, my beloved brethren”. Notice, “Do not err my beloved brethren”. Not to err will only be by the word. That means it is possible for a believer to err. The word “err” implies to deceive that word was used in Matthew 24:4-5, 11 for the antichrist leading men astray. It implies there will be an element championing the error. Matthew 22:29 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God”.
• Ephesians 4:13-14 – It means to cause you to miss the way.
• 1Corinthians 6:19 – Do not be deceived, that is, do not be led astray.
This was also used in 1Corinthians 15:33 and Galatians 6:7. That word goes beyond an action to living in deception. Hence, we must not relate with God according to our experiences or the experience of others but according to the word. James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. What is the gift? Everything we have known about God is in man; however, we can’t know God in man’s desires. We can only know God in the New Creation which is in Christ Jesus – His gift. Glory!
