“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things” – Matthew 6:25-26, 31-32
LIGHT FOR NOW: God is absolute, complete and total light, you can’t find an iota of darkness in God. He is not dual by nature and not characterized with bipolar disorder.
We got into the Apostle James’ words in last study; James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him”. Once we are dealing with God’s character and nature, one must not have dual views of God character wise. There is no duality in God’s character, neither is there bipolarity in how he behaves; our God doesn’t have schizophrenic disorder. He is not good today, then bad tomorrow; he is not light today, then darkness tomorrow. He is absolute light and in his is no darkness at all. He is a giving God. Thus, James says to pray to the “Giving God” who doesn’t find fault. Hence, we must not have a picture of a God that you have to call on and cry on but to a God who is single-minded about giving and doesn’t find fault.
John says God is light; 1John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”. John preaches the love of God in the light.
• 1John 1:7-9: He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us from all our sins. This is fellowship – the light.
• 1John 2:8-12: He writes to the believer and says the truth; the light is in him which is forgiveness of sins. So John exonerates God and says there is no darkness – unforgiveness in God just like Peter did and thus, questions the believer who does not walk in love.
• John 5:11-13: The word “record” was translated from a word used for reputation, something consistent with a man. This is the reputation of God – Eternal life in Christ, every other information about him is a rumour and defamation of character.
Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Acknowledge that God is consistent in who he is and what he does.
CONFESSION: My father (God) is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. This character of God is true in all situations, He is love and forgiving. He loves and gives me good things to enjoy, Amen.
QUOTE: God is constant and consistent in all ways.
