“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” – Matthew 6:25
LIGHT FOR NOW: Always see reasons to give God thanks, even if the devil presents thousands of reasons not to do so.
The believer must be thankful both for life and god’s loving-kindness. There is no time when we are going to have everything that we want. A thankful heart knows that life has its complexities. What you have is what someone else is praying for. So, it’s good and very important to count your blessings one by one and thank God. Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”. So, take some time out now, think about the good things God has done for you, count your blessings one by one and be thankful to God about them. Life is full of pressures on its own with the desire to have and acquire things which we all have rights to.
However, we must if become so encumbered about those things that the care of those things overcome and overwhelm our thoughts leading to apprehension, tension, and agitations in anxiety which may in turn hinder us from walking in God’s will and plan for our lives. Matthew 6:24-25 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” The phrase “Take no thought for your life” actually means to not be anxious about your life. It’s an instruction or a counsel to us not to chart the course of our life in anxiety. The phrase “hate the one and love the other” refers to preference. Jesus taught against uncontrolled desires for money. In the text above, he warned that the unbridled desire for money leads to worries. Let your desires be rightly regulated such that you don’t slip into worries. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Always be thankful to God.
CONFESSION: I see reasons to give God thanks. I don’t live in worries, anxiety or in fear of the future. All things work together to favour me, in Jesus Name, Amen
QUOTE: The believer should be naturally grateful to God who is always graceful to him.
