“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” – Matthew 6:25
LIGHT FOR NOW: A man that has life should be grateful for life, as that is the most important thing in life..
The phrase “Take no thought for your life” actually means to not be anxious about your life. Jesus explains that life is more important than the material things that we seek. Food, clothing and other material things are only relevant because there is life, not the other way round. The most important thing in life is life itself, so if we will rather give thanks for things than life, then we have misplaced our priorities. Note:
• Life is not enjoyed in the grave
• Money is not enjoyed in the grave
• Your mansions are irrelevant in the grave
• Your clothes are irrelevant (no matter how beautiful and fashionable they are) in the grave
In essence:
• You need life to enjoy your money
• You need life to enjoy your mansion or mansions
• You need life to enjoy wearing those beautiful and fashionable clothes
• You need life to drive that car
• You need life to enjoy that delicious meal. Once one dies, a delicious meal is irrelevant to such a person.
In essence, this buttresses the fact that the most important thing in life is life itself. Whereas many are of the opinion that you need money to enjoy life, but why have the thought of having gathered all the money, wealth and affluence and suddenly you pass away in death? We are not disputing their position of needing money to enjoy life, but can they accept the ultimate position that “LIFE IS NEEDED TO ENJOY MONEY”? This studies should open your eyes to see that the gift of life is one big thing to be grateful. You have a reason to be grateful to God. Glory!
