“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” – 1Peter 5:7
LIGHT FOR NOW: Never let the desire for what you want God to do for you make you not see what he has been doing already for you.
Today, let’s examine how to actually cast our cares on the Lord, as life’s pressures and challenges come at us, what is expected of us as believers. Firstly, it is always important to count one’s blessing rather than dwelling or one’s lack, that is, it is always good to start by counting one’s blessings rather than one’s lack. They are number of things we have that we have taken for granted while murmuring and complaining at the things we’re yet to have. Take for instance, Jesus himself teaches us to value and appreciate the very fact that we are alive or we have life, he says life is more important than its needs. As believers, we must realize that every opportunity to see a new day is a demonstration of God’s grace and tender mercies, another opportunity to yet experience more victories and testimonies.
More so, as believers, we are to be grateful for salvation, eternal life in Christ Jesus, the gift of God in our local church and the benefits of fellowship with the saints. No day ought to pass by without thanksgiving in this regard. Thanksgiving is an expression of faith in what Christ has done. The believer must learn to be a grateful being and not an ungrateful being. Rather than;
• Murmur
• Complain
• Be ungrateful; you should express faith in what Christ has done in the place of thanksgiving.
Let’s learn to be grateful and not murmur, this in itself stifles the voice of doubt, anxiety, worry or fear and makes us hopeful for yet another and a better day. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Gratitude to God should be your attitude to God, rather than murmuring to God.
CONFESSION: I am thankful for the gift of eternal life, for the gifts of God in my local church and the fellowship of the saints, in Jesus name, Amen.
QUOTE: When you are so fixated on what you want God to do, you may lose sight on what God has done.
