“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24
LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer has a righteous nature and as such, living right shouldn’t be a struggle but an expression of who he is by nature.
It was clearly established in previous study that the law could not help the natural man because he was dead; by nature he could not obey the law of God, it was foolishness to him. He lacked the capacity such that even when it was written to him, he failed in understanding it and hence, could not obey it. So the law gave sin the power to destroy. Romans 7:5-6, 9-12, 14 “For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Verse 9-12 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Verse 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin”.
The solution to the problem of death in the natural man is to give him life; and this life is in Christ. 1John 4:9 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him”. 1John 5:11-12 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life”. Glory!
