NOT UNDER THE LAW (24)

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24

LIGHT FOR NOW: When we walk in the spirit as believers, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled.

It was so clear in last study that we have the freedom from our obligations in our righteousness in Christ as sons of God. We have learnt to walk and conduct ourselves in our nature in Christ. When we walk in the spirit; the righteousness of the law is fulfilled and we show that the love of God is superior to the law of carnal ordinances. Romans 8:3-4 “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”.
Let’s briefly look into a patriarch of faith called Abraham. Abraham had no law when the promise was given to him. His faith in what God promised was accounted to him for righteousness. Galatians 3:5-8 “He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed”. The same scriptures of the law spoke of righteousness and justification by faith before the law was given. The promise of God did not distinguish between men but was a blessing to all nations. Again, Abraham’s faith in what god promised was accounted unto him for righteousness; Genesis 15:6 “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness”. Glory!
