NOT UNDER THE LAW (15)

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24

LIGHT FOR NOW: The born again man has received of God’s grace ad mercy in Christ.

The law is not of grace because it is not of God. John 1:16-17 “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ”. The grace of God is the truth about the character of God and this is only seen in Jesus. Moses gave the law to impute sin; it was never made to justify or make anyone righteous; it never made things better for men and never will. Before the law was given by Moses, men sinned but it was not counted against anyone; Romans 5:13 “(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law”. Hebrews 7:19 “For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God”.
The law made sin more dangerous; it now prescribed blessings and curses, life and death. The escape from the judgment of the law on sin is salvation in Christ Jesus. Hebrews 2:1-3 “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him”. This is God’s grace given to all men – salvation! Grace means you will not work for it; it will be freely given to you, you will just receive. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: You’ve received of God’s grace in salvation; acknowledge this.

DECLARATION: I have the mercy of God because I have received his grace in Christ. My conduct is after my new nature in Christ; I walk in all the goodness and grace God has given to me in Christ Jesus, Amen.

QUOTE: Grace is free not because it is cheap but because if you own the world, you can’t afford it.
